What I'm Reading: January Edition

While halfway through this engrossing novel from British author David Nicholls (a 2010 Top 10er in EW), I learned of the film adaptation which is being directed by Lone Scherfig (An Education). Now, I can't stop picturing Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as the book's lead characters...that's because they've been (perfectly) cast for the movie which hits theaters July 8. And raising the bar on my Anticipation Meter are these behind-the-scenes shots accompanied by one of my favorite songs from last year, "Something Good Can Work" by Two Door Cinema Club (Dear Movie Trailer Guy, take note):

What's it all about? Dex and Emma are college pals and former lovers who pop in and out of each other's life from 1988 to 2008. Each chapter of the book takes place on the same date (July 15) of each year within that 20-year span and gives us a snapshot of where they are, who they are, and what they're doing. Imagine if you took one the best storylines from Love Actually, upped the dramedy dose, and stretched it over two pop-culturally ripe decades.

Get it on it people.

Savoring each page,
H.P.M.

We should discuss when you finish it. I read it and, for some reason, pictured her as a redhead... Weird.
